Integrating Scales in Planetary Biology – Uppsala, 28–30 October 2026
How do processes in cells and genomes scale up to the resilience of whole ecosystems on a changing planet? SciLifeLab organises the second edition of the 2025 EMBO workshop that took place in Lisbon. The event brings together molecular biologists, ecologists and planetary-health researchers around climate resilience, biodiversity decline and sustainable food systems. For the ERGA/BGE community, the dedicated Biodiversity Decline session and speakers such as Anne Magurran (biodiversity change), Arnau Sebé-Pedrós (comparative cell atlases across species), Detlev Arendt, Alexandra Worden, Margaret McFall-Ngai and Colin Averill (soil fungi and restoration), make this a rare chance to connect reference genomes with the ecological and policy questions they are meant to answer. Round tables, funder panels and a Pitch Slam for new collaborations are also part of the event’s programme.

LRUA 2026 – Long-Read Users Annual, Uppsala, 2–4 November 2026
Organised by NGI and Clinical Genomics Uppsala (SciLifeLab), LRUA is the meeting for everyone generating or using long-read data – genome assembly, structural variation, isoforms, epigenetics. This year’s programme has a dedicated Biodiversity workshop alongside Clinical and Multi-omics, and speakers including Evan Eichler, Megan Dennis, Rosa Fernández, Linnea Smeds and Anthony Hall. The event is held the week after Integrating Scales in Planetary Biology
