Building shared capacity at the European level

BGE impact

BGE has enhanced the capacity of the European genomics community to work at the transnational level, with long-term scientific impacts for biodiversity discovery, identification, conservation and monitoring, and wide potential to guide policy and practice for biodiversity protection and restoration.

The BGE project has been a foundational joint step building shared capacity at the European level to accelerate the production of biodiversity genomic data and, ultimately, turn that data into genomic tools for effective biomonitoring, conservation and species recovery across the continent. BGE has had both systemic and scientific impact, re-shaping the European landscape of genomics research and adding new tools and discoveries.
