The BGE consortium brings together two newly-formed European networks, iBOL Europe and the European Reference Genome Atlas (ERGA).
iBOL Europe connects existing European national networks, scientists and projects working on DNA barcoding and metabarcoding. ERGA is a pan-European scientific community of experts in genome sequencing that aims to coordinate the generation of reference-quality genomes for all eukaryotic European species.
Through BGE, iBOL Europe and ERGA become the European nodes of two worldwide organisations: the International Barcode of Life (iBOL) and the Earth BioGenome Project (EBP), thus connecting the two European networks to the international community of scientists, policymakers and practitioners.
