Citizen Science

Community Sampling

BGE relies on the invaluable help of an army of citizen scientists to help us build the map of European biodiversity. Find out more about our data collection apps.

BGE takes the reliable and efficient collection of data extremely seriously. That is why, for instance, we consider the public’s views to guide us in future sampling of biodiversity for genomics research. We are developing a feedback mechanism via a citizen science mobile app, to be released later in the project’s life cycle.

We also run workshops using hand-held DNA sequencers to demonstrate biodiversity sequence data generation. These workshops are aligned to our BioBlitzes and bring together citizen scientists and early career researchers to explore the field of biodiversity genomics, supporting learning and the exchange of different perspectives and experiences.
